Rahab Welcomes Spies
This bible study is about the biblical account of Rahab and the spies, a Canaanite woman living in Jericho decides to shelter Israelite scouts on her flat rooftop rather than expose them to local authorities. Because she has heard reports of God parting the Red Sea and defeating the Amorite kings, Rahab acknowledges the supremacy of the Lord, recognizing His unmatched authority over both heaven and earth.
Driven by this profound realization of divine power, she negotiates a quid pro quo agreement with the spies, risking her own life to secure a promise of physical safety for her entire family. Later, when Joshua's army marches around the city and collapses the walls of Jericho after a miraculous seven-day campaign, the Israelites honor this prior covenant.
Consequently, while the rest of the wicked city is devoted to complete destruction to preserve spiritual purity, Rahab and her household are spared because of the kindness she showed the messengers.
