A Prophet is Called

The provided text outlines the biblical account from 1 Samuel regarding the young prophet Samuel hearing the voice of God for the first time while under the mentorship of the priest Eli. After multiple nocturnal calls, Eli correctly identifies the source of the voice and coaches the child on how to respond properly to the Lord. During this divine encounter, God delivers a severe message of judgment against Eli's household due to the unpunished wickedness of his sons, making clear that no sacrifices will alter this definitive verdict. Despite his fear and the difficult nature of the news, Samuel demonstrates immense integrity by faithfully relaying the entire revelation to Eli, who humbly accepts the divine decree. As he matures physically and spiritually, Samuel is continually supported by God, ultimately establishing his reputation as a trusted prophet throughout all of Israel.
