An Unlikely Deliverer

After turning to idolatry, the Israelites suffered under the oppressive rule of King Eglon of Moab. Desperate for help, the people cried out to God, who raised up an unexpected deliverer named Ehud. Utilizing his left-handedness and a custom-made dagger, Ehud successfully deceived the Moabite king and gained a private audience in the royal chamber. He then assassinated Eglon and managed to escape undetected while guards waited outside the locked doors. This daring act ultimately led to the defeat of the Moabites and secured an unprecedented eighty years of peace for Israel.
